says to Lt. Maes Hughes: ((Hmm I need to make new pds))
Another war. It never seemed to end. He walked back into the tent and slumped down on a cot and stared up at the bland tan tent above his head. It made quick work of small rebel factions to send him out. Burn them all! Some soldiers yelled behind him. Yeah... it wasn't THEIR families getting burned alive. He could hear machinery moving past outside. Tanks. Vehicles. Some soldiers on foot. They were likely clearing out anyone he had missed. He closed his eyes and put an arm over his eyes as he let out a sigh.

says to Maes Hughes: The flap of the tent opened, and a soldier called out. "Sir. You have a phone call from Central. Lieutenant Hughes."
Roy groaned but sat up and lowered his arm before getting up and padding out of the tent to head to the radio room. From there, he picked up the reciever. This voice sounded tired. "What is it Maes?" He said as he sat on a rickety wooden chair. "Isn't it..." He looked at the watch on his wrist. "11pm there? Why aren't you home with your family?" Unless, of course, something had happened that would make Maes call him at an ungodly hour.
(21:50:27 ) Maes Hughes says to The Flame Alchemist : Maes grins, always the ever watchful and intending to be ever helpful. He glances over at the men who are watching him while he stands at the phone since they are there to monitor all communication. "Oh Roy!! You know I just LOVE my family. When are you going to get yourself a wife and settle down?" He grins knowing that will set off Roy but throws off the scent of those who are listening in. He carefully angles his back so that he can still watch for listeners while he leans against the wall. He lowers his voice though while talking. "I hear you have made big strides today. You find that informant who was helping them evade us yet?"

says to Maes Hughes: Maes could hear the irritated groan over the line. Roy was furrowing his brows, his gloved hand rubbing finger and thumb in a sizzling sound. "Get to the point Maes." He snapped. When Maes finally got to the point of the call. He sighed. "No. They're still managing to evade us. I shrunk my team. Trying to weed out the mole." His voice sounded tired. "I could use an extra set of eyes out here. Eyes I trust Maes." Which meant he didnt trust the people with him. Riza was back at Central with Hawkeye. Roy had no one he could rely on, but perhaps that was the point. Keep the mole just out of reach until The Flame Alchemist finally stepped into a trap he couldnt burn his way out of.

says to The Flame Alchemist : Maes listened, hearing the faint sizzling from the other end and knowing he had gotten under Roy's skin. He did love to poke at Roy about family, but he knew the ambition that was building up for him and wasn't about to start derailing him completely. He needed to keep his cover and he was known for being devoted and overly proud of his family. "What about the full metal?" Again, Maes kept his voice low and even. He was serious, but keeping his thoughts turning on how he was going to help Roy while also not appearing to help his friend. He knew something was going on and Riza not being with Roy was dangerous. There was nobody there to protect Roy's back. "Why did Riza return to HQ? Your team was already too small to begin with." Noting the change in the men watching the call he raised his voice to a more "typical" tone and went, "Should I come out there and discuss all the virtues of marriage and kids?!"

says to Lt Maes HughesHQ Inf: "Orders from above." He answered. "Fullmetal was sent to another zone." Which means he couldn't keep an eye on the wayward alchemist. At least his brother was back. His brother was at home with their family. ((Alt-U)) He caught the change in Hughes' demeanor and frowned. "Not a chance." He said flatly to Maes' comment about wife and kids. He didn't see himself as the type to ever have a future long enough to have a wife or kids. Most State Alchemists had short life spans given the nature of their work. "Maes." He started then stopped as he saw a shadow walk past the side of his tent. "If you keep blathering on about your wife and kids Im going to set YOUR ass on fire next time I see you." And then he hung up.... loudly. He got up and stormed out of the tent. He had to keep up the facade. Whoever had been outside of the tent was already long gone. They both had spies on each end that they had to watch out for. At least Maes had people he could trust at his side.
says to The Flame Alchemist : Grinning, Maes hung up the phone. He put one hand in his pocket and gave a little wave with the other to the men watching him now. "Alchemists am I right? So touchy. Anyway...you want to talk about wife and kids?" He had immediately put his hand near his wallet to throw them off the trail of the conversation and just kept up grinning like a madman while these poor men look horrified and tried to usher him away as fast as they could possibly get him to go. Maes left, pushing his glasses up, head slightly down and nodded. "Ok ok...fine. I still tell you that they are the best things on this earth." He walked off, not rushing but not dawdling either. Roy needed backup and there was somebody in that camp with him giving information to the other side. He just knew it but how to get that person out in the open so Roy can protect himself. That was the question plaquing him on his walk home tonight. Maybe morning would see something change. He needed to get Riza and the others back to Roy though. Roy was right. He needed eyes he could trust, but if he showed up Roy would have a cow. Pondering that made Maes smile more and he thought talking with Riza might prove interesting to get Maes out there. He detoured to Riza's quarters to discuss how to get out there to help Roy.
